I don’t believe it’s been almost 1 year since my last blog post! I have reeeeally been slackin’! What other way to come back to it than with some very exciting news since last posting- I got engaged, and this summer- married!
We got married in a small town called Comfort, in Texas, USA. Comfort is about 45 minutes away from the city where I was born and raised- San Antonio.
Planning a wedding from another location is never an easy feat- I was in another country about 2,000 miles away! Thankfully, my parents did SO much to help out. My Mom loved picking things out without having a bossy bride there to intervene. Hey, I only intervened SLIGHTLY when I saw what was picked out 😉 haha!
It’s so easy to go on Pinterest and get overloaded with the most perfect pins thinking everything has be absolutely 100%. Set a tentative budget, but do plan/ have room to go a bit over it. We were pretty close to our original budget. All of the ‘good’ vendors will cost a pretty penny, but it’s really the little details that you think you have to go all out for that will really kill you. When you start planning, definitely make a list of what vendors are most important to you, and what you want to spend the most money on. That definitely helped us spend the most on what we really wanted, and then compromise on the other things that weren’t as high on the importance scale. I splurged on a few special personalized items (Etsy is a dangerous, dangerous site!) but as far as other decor, I definitely found great deals at Target, TJ Maxx, Michaels, Home Goods, Jo-Ann’s, Hobby Lobby, and even Wal-Mart.
Our ceremony + reception sit was at Ring Mountain Event Center. Ring Mountain is on top of a hill in Joshua Springs Park. The grounds, and view, are absolutely stunning.

I can’t recommend Margaret enough! She did my hair and make-up at a previous wedding as a bridesmaid, and also my bridal portraits and wedding. Margaret is so sweet and she does a fabulous job! I’m currently trying to convince her to move to the island to be my personal glam squad .. lol.

First look with my Dad. 🙂
Cake- Sugar Belle’s
Looked beautiful, and tasted excellent! Just what we wanted!
Caterer- Jimmy Lyn’s
Food was fantastic. I’m not the biggest big bbq fan, but was blown away when we had a sample at Jimmy Lyn’s. I told the owner they should open up a restaurant! Absolutely wonderful food.
For table decorations, we kept it sweet and simple. A cream candle, assorted flowers in vase, and succulents/cacti in rose gold spray-painted (thanks Dad!!!) terra cotta’s. I also put picture frames up from our favorite vacations, with a little plaque noting the place and month/year.

Poor Nick had the sun directly in his eyes! I tried blocking and our officiant put it in my vows to always shade him from the sun, haha!
It’s official! ❤
My wonderful parents!!!!!
I could not have been more pleased with my flowers!! On island I am spoiled with the most amazing flower shop that caters to high-end destination weddings. Their shop always has the most fabulous flowers. At first when my Mom said several people had recommended HEB Blooms I thought, uhh, as in the grocery store.. really? We went to HEB and met with Rosaleen Canavati, and I was blown away. I showed her several examples of what I wanted and she far than exceeded my expectations. She definitely knows what she is doing, and I’m so thankful because I looooved my flowers so so much!
Poor little wifey with cake in the eye while hubby does Ray Liotta alla Goodfellas laugh? lol
What a beautiful night!
